Olympiads and Competitions

The SA Mathematics Challenge is organised by the SA Maths Foundation for Grades 4 to 7.

Sweet Valley has won the award for Top Performing School in this competition every year since in 2015.

SA Mathematics Challenge 2022

The SA Maths Challenge is the largest competition for Grade 4 to 7 pupils in South Africa, and Is organised by the SA Maths Foundation.

The top 400 pupils (about 100 per Grade) qualified to write the third round of the Challenge. The best performers were:

Sweet Valley was named as the best performing school in SA for the eighth consecutive year.

Wits University Maths Competition

Children were entered in the Middle Primary (Grades 4 & 5) or Upper Primary (Grades 6 & 7). There are two rounds in this competition. After the second round, a virtual prizegiving was held in November, and the following awards were made to Sweet valley children:

Upper Primary Section

Lisa Browne 9th

Sasha Swart 7th

 

              

 

Sweet Valley was placed first overall in the Upper Primary section, and second in the Middle Primary section.

​​Living Maths Olympiad

This was written in November. Although it is marked out of 20, there are five ‘bonus’ questions, so it is possible to get more than 20. The following children were placed in the top 3 in various Grades:
